We provide Individual and Group Spiritual Direction
Individual Spiritual Direction
- Spiritual direction, sometimes referred to as spiritual guidance or spiritual friendship, is an ongoing relationship in which one person (the directee), desirous of being attentive to his or her spiritual life, meets with another person (the director) on a regular basis (approximately once a month), specifically for the purpose of becoming more attuned to God’s Presence in order to respond more fully to that Presence in all of life.
- The primary focus of the session is the directee’s relationship with God as it is reflected and challenged by all aspects of that person’s life.
Group spiritual direction
- Is a process in which people gather together on a regular basis to assist one another in an ongoing awareness of God in all of life. They are seeking support for their responsiveness to God and they agree to support others in that same responsiveness.
The purpose of Spiritual Direction is not counseling or therapy. Nor are these sessions places where we can engage in aimless, self-absorbed conversations. The purpose of spiritual direction is formation, awareness and understanding f self.
Spiritual formation is “a process of being conformed to the image of ‘the Divine’ for the sake of others.”
The intentional goal of spiritual direction is to help each directee become more aware of the Divine Creator in their lives, for the sake of others. In other words, it leads to an awakening of the soul. This awakening then leads to a life that is purposeful and intentional.
Spiritual direction helps individuals grow in their faith, love others more fully, and participate in the mission of their particular faith tradition more fervently and effectively.
